Correction of False Scoliosis

Our spines play a huge role in our daily lives and can be defined as healthy, or unhealthy. Depending on the condition of your spine, healthy or unhealthy, your quality of life can be greatly affected! You have to put importance on your spine and be actively maintaining your spine through chiropractic adjustments in order for it to remain healthy. Our spine support our entire body in this gravity that we live in every single day of our lives. We use our spines daily to move. It is what our shoulder girdle and hips use as a base for movement of our limbs. It supports our head with our vitally important brain inside. It surrounds and protects our spinal cord while allowing us to have movement at the same time. This thing is incredibly sophisticated and works for us everyday of our lives. We need to start taking care of our spines as soon as we can.

I have attached a link to an article below that is research published in a scientific journal. It is a quick read and worth the 5 minutes to help understand the value Complete Health Chiropractic can offer you through Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) rehabilitation techniques. We are looking at a woman who is suffering with low back pain due to a pseudo-scoliosis. A true scoliosis has a Cobb angle greater than or equal to 10° with vertebral body rotation. When there is a lateral translation of the rib cage relative to the pelvis, it will displace the lumbar spine. You must account for projectional distortion as the vertebrae may appear rotation when it is true being examined from a side angle.

When this was taken into account, the chiropractor treating this lady knew she could take care of the problem and that it was not true scoliosis. She treated her patient with lateral thoracic traction along with chiropractic adjustment, mirror image exercises and mirror image adjustments. When the patient completed care, which consisted of 36 visits, an post-treatment radiograph was taken. The imaging is included in this article and speaks for itself. Her spine went from a laterally translated position to straight up and down on the post treatment image. Her symptoms of low back pain, and many others, also decreased or went away completely.

Complete Health Chiropractic in Littleton offers CBP treatment as a therapy in the office. We can help people who are suffering from all sorts of problems coming from their spine. Because the spine is so intimately connected to all other parts of the body, the ramifications of an unhealthy spine can be vast and spanning many different types of symptoms.

The most common things that people see us for are the symptoms that manifest themselves first. These include pain, headaches and radiating pain such as down the shoulder/arm or down the leg. It is important to understand that pain is the bodies way of communicating that something is wrong. When something is wrong in the neck or back, aka neck pain or low back pain, there are deeper consequences then pain alone. If left untreated, the pain will remain and progress, but you may also start to develop visceral symptoms (symptoms involved in organ function). It takes more time for your organs to start functioning incorrectly and displaying symptoms, so often people do not make the connection between something like low back pain and maybe constipation, diarrhea, IBS or sexual dysfunction to name a few. It all depends on what nerves are being affected.

If you are dealing with any symptoms or lack of health anywhere in your body, please consider having us check on the health of your spine and nervous system. Schedule today to begin your journey towards a healthier spine, nervous system and body. We look forward to seeing you in the office!
