Insomnia is a fancy way of saying you have trouble sleeping.  One of the most common "side effects" of an adjustment is getting a good night’s sleep.  When you are asleep, you're body does most of its healing and regeneration.  There are many reasons why you get better sleep.  An adjustment will help turn off the stress response a misaligned spine puts your body in and allow you to rest easy.

This is especially important for children who have sensory issues or ADHD.  What often happens in these children is that the upper neck has a misalignment, when this occurs, the balance between "rest and digest" and "fight or flight" is off. This means that the child or person has difficulty going into the rest and digest mode in order to get a good night sleep.
